Quote of the Day and Picture of the Week

I regularly subscribe to a blog called "quotes of the day." Today's quote was particularly apt. Its something I try hard to avoid doing in my own work because it is so dangerously true, and just too easy to go down the path of.

Andrew Carnegie said:
One of the serious obstacles to the improvement of our race is indiscriminate charity.
All charity is not good. Its not enough to just try to do good. It must be done and it must be done well. I encourage you to call me out if you think at any point that this Prize is going down the path of "indiscriminate charity." That is worse than doing nothing at all.

Also, our picture of the week. There is something heartbreaking and yet endearing about this picture. Unfortunately I have no reference for who took this picture. It was sent to me by a friend.
